you're in a 99 seat or less theater with no union contracts (thank you, official explanation!).
the theater is in a location where the 7 train rumbles overhead at inopportune moments.
audiences consist of only family and friends. If there is an audience.
every play is set in no particular time or place in order to avoid costumes that can't be found in someone's wardrobe or very, very cheap stores.
eighteen people, a rack of costumes, shelves, props, and personal belongings can squeeze into a 12' x 8' dressing room.
the actors are much more resourceful and undoubtedly more talented than those lazybones in posh Broadway theaters.
Which one am I? Hint: the unattractive one.
